In a recent maritime law enforcement operation in Hong Kong, authorities uncovered a large quantity of suspected narcotics concealed within the sea chest intake structure beneath a 333-meter ocean-going vessel—one of the most challenging areas for underwater inspection.
The operation was conducted in 11 meters of depth, under extremely low visibility, with a complex hull structure and a total search area comparable to three football fields.
Following preliminary diver-based screening, Deepinfar’s JT-5 ROV was deployed for close-range verification and visual confirmation of critical hull structures.
Thanks to its high-resolution underwater imaging, stable hovering, and precise maneuverability, the JT-5 successfully captured clear visuals inside the intake gate, even in near-zero light conditions.
The ROV provided decisive visual evidence, confirming the presence of waterproof-wrapped packages secured with weighted ballast, enabling safe and accurate follow-up action.
This case highlights a key reality in modern underwater law enforcement:
effective inspection is not just about detecting anomalies—but about obtaining reliable, interpretable visual evidence in complex environments.
Deepinfar continues to deliver professional-grade ROV solutions for high-risk underwater security and inspection missions, where image quality, stability, and operator control directly impact operational outcomes.
